Description

The Extraction Manager position will report to the Facility Director and be responsible for overseeing all aspects of production and laboratory operations, including managing the staff, as well as extraction, processing, and analytical testing. They will monitor and maintain the organization, cleanliness, and efficiency of production and laboratory areas. The incumbent must be detail oriented and able to follow established procedures to ensure product integrity and quality control in a highly regulated environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Participation in laboratory inspections for preventative safety action and quality control
  • Assist in development and optimization of current protocols for decarboxylation, extraction and winterization procedures
  • Assist in sample preparation and analytical testing procedures
  • Assist in filling, labeling, and packaging of inventory according to the company’s specifications
  • Responsible for the preparation and execution of extraction and processing of product in accordance with the State and standards set by Penn Health Group
  • Ensures consistency and efficacy of product through quality control testing and procedures outlined
  • Perform all assigned duties required to ensure a clean and safe production facility
  • Ensure personal hygiene is acceptable under set standards before performing any production activities by washing hands, wearing a hair net, changing clothes, etc.
  • Complete the sanitation of all production equipment and tools including workspace, lab equipment, containers, and appliances
  • Creation of batch production records and labels in accordance with the State and set standards
  • Weighing, packaging, labeling, and documentation of all products, as well as the tracking of batch numbers, lot numbers, and expiration dates
  • Ensure the appropriate information is accurate and listed clearly in accordance with the standards
  • Work with local, State-approved laboratory to send samples for regular testing of extracted products and document all results for compliance with State regulations
  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions

Candidates must possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Science Preferred
  • Knowledgeable in the medicinal benefits of marijuana is a plus
  • Effective time-management skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing and challenging environment
  • Computer proficency
  • A minimum of 5 years in a management role, managing both people and processes
  • Experience with Extraction Purification and Analysis preferred, but not required.
  • Background in Biology/Chemistry preferred
  • Experience training and mentoring

Physical Activities and Additional Requirements:

  • Able to lift 50 lbs. of weight at any given time without assistance
  • Able to stand on their feet for at least 8 hours a day with constant movement
  • Required to work with hazardous chemicals and to wear appropriate clothing
  • Requires some variable hours and on call after business hours to meet the needs of the business
  • Local travel for business purposes and occasional overnight travel for events, training, etc. may also be required
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check and drug test
